  • Three Steps Above Heaven (2010)

Three Steps Above The Sky is a 2010 Spanish film based on Federico Moccia’s novel of the same name. “Three Steps Above Heaven,” a youthful fantasy about a romance between a bad boy with a good streak and a nice girl with a bad streak, is too eager to please.

The film, which plays like a two-hour denim commercial, exists purely to sell itself to early teenagers seeking vicarious rebellion through a combination of motorbikes, cheap emotion, and expensive marketing, but its manipulations may be too blatant even for its intended audience.

The first weekend B.O. at home was outstanding, thanks to a vigorous media campaign, and “Heaven” is likely to open its doors in Iberophile territories.

Principal photography began in Georgia in May 2013. The filming was completed in July 2013. Scenes were shot in Savannah, Fayette County, and Butts County, Georgia at Lake Jackson, and the Atlanta Botanical Garden.
