DJ Pooh wrote and directed the 2000 comedy picture 3 Strikes, which starred Brian Hooks, N’Bushe Wright, Faizon Love, and David Alan Grier. Despite some commercial success, many were critical of it. The title alludes to California’s habitual offender legislation, which stipulates that three convictions result in an automatic life sentence.

Dope (2015)
Dope is a 2015 American comedy-drama film directed and written by Rick Famuyiwa and produced by Forest Whitaker and Nina Yang Bongiovi. Shameik Moore, Tony Revolori, Kiersey Clemons, Kimberly Elise, Chanel Iman, Tyga, Blake Anderson, Zo Kravitz, and ASAP Rocky are among the cast members. Sean Combs and Pharrell Williams also served as executive producers on the film.
On January 24, 2015, the film premiered at the 2015 Sundance Film Festival in Park City, Utah, and was released in North America by Open Road Films on June 19. On September 4, during the Labor Day holiday weekend, it was re-released. The film received positive reviews and was a moderate commercial success, grossing $18 million against a budget of $7 million.
